{"id":37,"date":"2016-09-08T04:16:08","date_gmt":"2016-09-08T04:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/demo.exptheme.com\/nito\/?p=37"},"modified":"2016-09-08T04:16:08","modified_gmt":"2016-09-08T04:16:08","slug":"blackpool-illuminations-lancashire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/demo.exptheme.com\/nito\/?p=37","title":{"rendered":"Blackpool Illuminations, Lancashire"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"ef3-gtb-block wp-block-\">&#8220;Can we go and see the lights?&#8221; Generations of families have grown up cherishing a visit to the Blackpool Illuminations, the fabulous fantasy light show that&#8217;s been an annual fixture for a century now at the end of each summer season.\u00a0The big end-of-August switch-on is all part of the tradition, with a 20,000-strong crowd, plus famous faces and a full roster of entertainment taking place on the Tower Festival Headland on the opening night, and then, for a very specific 73 nights \u2013 cleverly extending Blackpool&#8217;s holiday season well into autumn.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It&#8217;s all about the million or more electric lamps strung into dazzling, kaleidoscopic pictures, celebrity characters, animals, star patterns and theatrical tableaux along six miles of the prom.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-6 col-lg-6\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-222\" src=\"https:\/\/demo.exptheme.com\/nito\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/blog-intro1.jpg\" alt=\"blog-intro1\" width=\"420\" height=\"265\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-6 col-lg-6\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-223\" src=\"https:\/\/demo.exptheme.com\/nito\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/blog-intro2.jpg\" alt=\"blog-intro2\" width=\"420\" height=\"265\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>They come on at dusk every day, and stay on until late at night, drawing over three million visitors a year, whether it&#8217;s for old favourites like the Haunted House or Teddy Bears&#8217; Picnic or for new-style attractions, from urban street-art lights to mesmeric strobe displays.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a serious amount of dedicated work behind the lights \u2013 Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen is a regular consultant designer, assisted by an army of electricians and engineers \u2013 but there&#8217;s still an innocence here that&#8217;s hard to beat.
